Local events
What's on in Perthshire? 'What's not on' might be a better question, in an area of great vibrancy, special interest, culture and diversity.
Perth Highland Games
Held on Sunday 10th August 2008
Perth Highland Games have grown from strength to strength and are now one the most popular venues on the Highland Games circuit which runs from May to mid September each year.
The traditional events performed by the heavyweight athletes are throwing weights for distance and height, throwing the hammer and tossing the caber which are always very popular events. In addition to those events there is highland dancing, running for adults and youths, cycling, solo piping, and very popular pipe band contest with a large number of overseas bands taking part.
